Meet and Greet at The Dove

The Doves Nest Paris Apartment
Paper Cowgirl is not just about the classes.  OK, it is about the classes, but like a really great cupcake, sometimes the icing and the sprinkles are what makes it sublime.  For me, its the events and activities for the week are what make Paper Cowgirl sublime.
The Doves Nest Paris Apartment

Our first evening together as a group is always held at The Dove's Nest. Our time there offers the best of all worlds, great food, beautiful location and private shopping. Owner Cindy Burch, always puts on a delightful spread for us gals to partake of as we get to know new friends, greet old ones, mingle and get to meet our teachers. It's a lovely evening and a great way to kick off our time together.

The store has just decorated for Spring and we have a beautiful new section that we like to call "Paris Apartment". Neutral shades, soft pinks, Lollia, Rachel Ashwell and more, it all comes together in a glorious feast for the eyes and makes my heart go pitter pat.

But there is more! Spring has definitely sprung and you will find tons of beautiful Spring and Easter goodies galore.

Spring has Sprung at The Dove's Nest

Color, florals, garden decor that can be used inside, as well, as out. As well as a lovely mix of vintage, hand-crafted and more. Kelly Rae Roberts, Brave Girls, flash cards, Snug Hug Ribbon, vintage photo's, its a crafting girls dream.
And inspiration, you'll find it here.  Loads of gorgeous displays that will get your creativity humming.
I'm proud to not only have The Dove's Nest as a great sponsor, but to also call it my favorite place to work.
Nests and birds are always found at The Dove's Nest
Easter is also at The Dove's Nest.
The evening is free for all Paper Cowgirl students. Here you will pick up your badges, welcome booklets and meet your teachers. As well, as eating and did I mention, private shopping? And this year we are having a quick Panel discussion by some of our favorite bloggers aka teachers, Dawn Edmonson, Beth Leintz, Karla Nathan, Lisa McIlvain and Karen Valentine. This will be a short, lively I'm sure, discussion on all things blog. Where blogs are headed, Pinterest, how to get into blogging and more. Still great seats left, sign up time is limited. Registration will close this Thursday.

Finally! Because sometimes it takes tears to get technology

my project from Sandra's Heart Take Flight Class
Slowly but surely rejoining the blogging world.  Several months ago, our computer began to have major issues, especially when it came to downloading photo's.  Long story short, after many headaches, tears, crying, more tears and money, looks like we are on the road to being able to download photo's again.  Happy, happy, joy, joy.

Sandra's Heart Take Flight Class
Back in January, I got the chance to actually take a class. Sandra's Heart Take Flight class was a "many layered" project that involved painting, sewing, scrap paper and more. Needless to say, I had a blast. Sandra is not only a generous artist, but an awesome teacher as well. She encourages you to just stick your toe out of your comfort zone just a bit.
funky hand-writing by me!
With Sandra's help, I became a little fearless and did my own thing in her class. As you can see, my project ended up vastly different than hers. And that's OK, cause I think that a really good class allows you to explore your options and if you want to do your own take on the project, that's a good thing.
I sewed on paper!  Yay me!  and  I LOVE it.  Now, everything gets sewn on.  Cards, journaling, bills that need to be paid.  Yep, I'm sewing on it.
A goody package for an Etsy customer
We still have some great classes left, but registration does close THIS THURSDAY!  So come get out of your comfort zone and come dip your toe into some creativity.

Vintage Inspired Journal Class

Karen's Vintage Inspired Journal Class
For me, I find that one of the most enjoyable things about putting together Paper Cowgirl events, is meeting such wonderful people.  The students, the teachers, the vendors, all are amazing, fun and talented. And working with new teachers is always a joy.  With that being said, I would love to highlight one of our new teachers this year, Karen Valentine.

Karen's Journal (pictured above and below)  is a lacy, cream and white dream, embellished with a lovely vintage photo, buttons, trims, flowers and loads of lovely, lovely ribbons.  Cottage style perfect, its a romantic book, a perfect journal for capturing all your thoughts, hopes and dreams.
Karen embraces her cottage lifestyle and that style is reflected in her home decor, her projects and her gorgeous blogs.  I recently had the joy of getting to know Karen better, as we worked together to re-do the Paper Cowgirl blog.  Her easy laugh and great computer knowledge, coupled with an eye for pretty, makes her a super gal to work with.  Karen not only creates lovely things by hand, but by computer as well.  Her other blog, Valentine Design, offers great tips, techniques and goodies that you can purchase for beautifying your own blog.
Karen's Vintage Inspired Journal Class
Karen is uber talented, having been published in several different Somerset Publications, as well. Paper Cowgirl is delighted to welcome this Arizona, (but Texan in heart) gal to teach this March. Her beautiful composition-book-turned-vintage Journal is a class that you don't want to miss. Still seats available, so go sign up now, just hit the "Creative Classes" button to go to the registration.

And speaking of being "Delighted", Lisa Pace is coming to Waxahachie for a fun creative filled weekend. Her second book "Delight In The Seasons" is out and this year she debuted a beautiful vintage line of stamps, appropriately enough called the Antiquated Collection.

The Crafty Scrapper is highlighting both of her books as well as her new stamp collection by hosting a weekend of crafting, book signing and more. The weekend starts off Friday night, February 24th at 6-7pm for a book signing followed with a fun make-n-take using her new stamps. If you have her first book bring that along too for signing. The Crafty Scrapper will have both books for sale, as well as all of Lisa's new stamps in stock. Lisa will also be teaching two classes that weekend, Antiquated Collection Sampler and Altered Jello Molds, both on Saturday, February 25th. For more details hit the stores website or call them direct at 972.923.3151.

For a visual treat this weekend, go check out the new movie, Woman in Black.  A scary-make-you-jump-and spill-your-popcorn movie.  Daniel Radcliffe holds his own as the ghost seeing young man, who's just trying to get some work done.  And much like the movie Practical Magic, the house, decorated sets and beautiful locale kept me glued to the big screen as well!

Have a great weekend!
